Menopause Policy Advocate

Hello Friends!

I’m writing this on World Menopause Day, which feels like the perfect moment to share something personal and meaningful: I’ve joined the exceptional team at MenoGlobal as Lead, European Policy & Convenings — and I couldn’t be more thrilled. (I’m doing cartwheels on the inside!!)

One of the many things that gives me hope is how many creative, brilliant and relentless women are driving this movement forward. Jennifer Barsky,  the Founder and CEO of MenoGlobal, has been a force in shaping policy strategy at the global level, and I’m genuinely honored to be working alongside her and the team.

I’m continuing to work with MenoTracker, led by Sonja Rincón, and learn first-hand how innovation and data to transform how we understand, measure, and respond to menopause. I’m also learning the ins and outs of launching a femtech start-up, and it is not for the faint hearted, I can tell you!

This is the future: policy + tech + lived experience = impact.

A word about Action

There is still so much work ahead — to ensure that women are seen, heard, respected, represented, researched, and cared for. Right now, access to research participation in the US is actually shifting backwards, making it harder — not easier — for women to be included in clinical data.

Which is why I want to say this clearly:

Every woman can be part of this movement. One way is by looking for opportunities to participate in research and clinical trials:

I read recently that one of the largest costs and time delays in getting medical research done is in finding study participants. If you feel like this is something you could do, I urge you to look into it.  I will keep posting surveys and other announcements as I get them, so watch this space. 

Together we can help to close the gender data gap. 

Focus

Visibility is power. Data is power. And when women show up — in policy, in trials, in leadership — systems change.

As I think about what my role is in making menopause better for women around the world, I am full of hope and fire. Some days it feels like the world is spinning out of control, and I get a bit overwhelmed.

Then I come back to this: Do what you can do. Well. Consistently. Passionately. And visibly and loudly support the people around you who are doing the same. 

We can’t fix everything. But we can be kind and work together with determination, joy and perseverance.
